2025 Alumnae of the Year - The Honorable Ana L. Escobar '88

We are pleased to announce that The Honorable Ana L. Escobar, a 1988 graduate of St. Cecilia Academy, is the 2025 SCA Outstanding Alumnae of the Year. This honor is given each year to an alumna nominated by her peers for her service and commitment to SCA, along with leadership and outstanding service in her family, faith, community, vocation, or profession.
After graduating from SCA, Ana graduated from Vanderbilt University and The National Law Center at George Washington University with a Doctor in Jurisprudence. She has practiced law in Nashville since 1995 by serving as an assistant public defender, an assistant district attorney, solo practitioner, Metro Clerk, and Deputy Director of the Administrative Office of the Courts. In 2018, she made history by being the first Hispanic person elected to the General Sessions Court. Judge Escobar hears civil orders of protections and domestic violence criminal cases and presides over a treatment court for human trafficking survivors and those at risk of sexual exploitation.

When Ana was a student in the late 1980s, she and other students started  the Youth in Legislature program, now known as Youth in Government and Model United Nations began at St. Cecilia Academy. She participated in the program and was exposed to learning about the government which initiated her interest in government, justice, and politics. Ana is quick to credit SCA for giving her opportunities to learn how to serve others and she has worked to give students similar chances. Since graduation, she has been an active supporter of SCA including serving as a Mentor during Interim, inviting students to her courtroom and sitting on career panels. Those activities are just a few of the ways she has supported SCA.

Because of her dedication to SCA, her amazing contributions to her community and the inspiration she provides to so many, we are pleased to recognize her as our 2025 Outstanding Alumna of the Year. We hope you will join us in honoring her at our 120th Alumnae Mass and Luncheon on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
