Congratulations to Emma Golczynski '25 who was named Student of the Month by the Bellevue Exchange Club. As a resident of Bellevue, Golczynski was nominated by St. Cecilia administration based on her strong academics and good citizenship. She is Vice President of Sodality, has been a Search leader, and is active in her local community.
Students who remain on campus during St. Cecilia Academy’s Interim program have a number of unique courses to choose. One of these is “Roxaboxen” which is based on the book of the same name by Alice McLerran. The premise is to encourage students to use their imaginations to create buildings made from limited resources. We asked SCA Latin and Spanish teacher, Kathleen Cassman, about the program and what she hopes the students learn.
Congratulations, Kathleen Cassman, on five years at St. Cecilia Academy. Mrs. Cassman teaches high school Latin and Spanish. She likes teaching at SCA because of the community and the way she can give personalized attention to her students.
The St. Cecilia Academy Interim experience exposes students to career opportunities whether inspired in the classroom or through one of many professional internships. Returning this year is “Scientific Inquiry in Medicine” which provides an overview of some of the foundational tools used by the medical profession. We asked Science Department Chair, Mr. Charles Martinez, about the course and how it fits within the way St. Cecilia teaches the sciences.
Congratulations, David Donlon, on 5 years at St. Cecilia Academy. Mr. Donlon teaches high school physics and is the head Tennis Coach. He believes the best part about teaching at SCA is being part of a faithful community with the mission to educate and form the best students.
Mr. Donlon shared his thoughts about being part of the St. Cecilia community.
A signature program at St. Cecilia Academy, Interim offers students ways to explore the world and build skills. One such training is “Vigilance and Self Defense” which is an annual SCA student favorite. We asked Moose Moore, founder and creator of The Vigilance Group, to share why he has enjoyed running this program year after year.
Interim is a signature program at St. Cecilia Academy. During one week in January, students take unique classes, have travel opportunities, and participate in internships. One of the Interim classes featured is “Praying with Hands: Intro to Christian Iconography and Icon Writing” taught by Dr. Carole Taylor. We asked Dr. Taylor to explain the history of Christian Iconography and her own journey in mastering this art form.
Congratulations, Amie Pike, for celebrating 20 years at St. Cecilia Academy! Mrs. Pike serves as the Fine Arts Department Chair, Visual Arts Teacher, Director of Camp St. Cecilia, and is a SCA parent. Her favorite part about teaching at St. Cecilia is seeing students' creativity come alive and grow in the classroom.
We asked Mrs. Pike to share her background and thoughts about her time as a SCA faculty member.
From her very first days at Saint Cecilia Academy, the Salutatorian for the Class of 2024 has distinguished herself by an impressive array of honors and AP classes, earning a nearly perfect GPA along the way.
Join us every Wednesday (that school is in session) for Walk-In Wednesday! Come by for an informal meet and greet with the SCA admissions team and a tour of campus from 12:00 – 1:00. We are excited to see you!
Mrs. Pike’s Advanced Art students participated in a collaborative art project titled “Under One Roof” with the Gordon Jewish Community Center for their Sukkot celebration.
